What is color temperature?
Color temperature (CT) lighting. A numerical measurement expressed in Kelvin scale (K) for quantifying the hue of light used for viewing. A (theoretical) metal that is heated to an extremely high temperature will emit deep red light first, then orange, white, and finally blue shades. Therefore, the color of the emitted light is related to the temperature of the metal.
Color temperature is defined in absolute temperature units Kelvin (K). Color temperature is a characteristic of visible light and has important applications in lighting, photography, publishing, manufacturing, astrophysics, and other fields.
On Earth Day, the turtle-friendly outdoor lighting project at The Lodge in Gulf National Park, Gulf Coast, Alabama, was announced. (Turtle-friendly outdoor lighting project at The Lodge at Gulf State Park located in Gulf Shores). The project's LED-based lamps produced a very warm light that was limited by the wavelength, so as not to confuse the hatching turtles when they started to crawl into the ocean. The application utilizes Ketra's proprietary LED-based light engine, which has a multi-channel solid-state lighting (SSL) architecture.
"People often wonder why the lighting is a little different at night because warm long-wavelength light not only helps turtles but serves as a natural clue to benefit humans and help the body prepare to fall asleep."
Besides, the concept of color temperature is very important in the field of photography. In the field of photography, film emulsions must be balanced to accurately display colors using different light sources. Generally speaking, in order to produce the same photographic effect, under fluorescent and fluorescent lighting conditions, the color temperature needs to reach 5500K, and the film used in the tungsten bulb needs a color temperature of 3300K. The color temperature of the lighting is also different according to the time of day. There is also a certain relationship between the color temperature of LED lighting and the wavelength of the spectrum. The wavelength spectrum of traditional indoor lighting bulbs will be concentrated in the 3200K color temperature range, and the color balance of the film will get the best results. Therefore, whether it is a tungsten light bulb or a fluorescent lamp (fluorescent lamp), photography has a unified specification for its color temperature requirements.
In addition, in different applications, LED lighting has also changed. The atmosphere created indoors is adjusted with the help of color temperature. The LED lighting market is developing day by day, and the variety of functional changes is no longer satisfied with basic lighting. More intelligent lighting is constantly being explored to better fit the people-oriented intelligent lighting concept.
